歐巴馬的就職演說 President Obama's victory speech 2012

在歐巴馬的勝選演說(Victory Speech)裡，有一段讓我印象深刻:

 

 

(翻譯幾句就是"美國精神從不是能為我們自己做些什麼，而是我們能一起透過辛苦、挫折但必要的自治實現什麼。這正是我們的立國之本。)
就算只是表面話，對比今日，也值得思考看看。


In President Obama’s victory speech, there is a section that is very impressive to me:

 

"The role of citizen in our democracy does not end with your vote. America's never been about what can be done for us. It's about what can be done by us together through the hard and frustrating, but necessary work of self-government. That's the principle we were founded on."  

His word deeply touches my heart.

Contrast to the public environment in Taiwan, most politicians only think about themselves and try to make some self-interest laws or construct projects. Even the people in Taiwan are very selfish. For example, most Taiwan people opposed to the price increase in electricity because they still want to use less money to enjoy better life. However, since the low price could not restrict people to save energy, they can use the power unlimitedly. It is harmful to our environment because we have to build more nuclear power plants or burn more oil to generate energy. This is a selfish behavior and it shows that our people are seriously lack of self discipline . 
That is why I think President Obama’s speech is very impressive. We must try to achieve something which is hard and frustrating, but necessary work of self-government. I strongly believe that is the principle the democracy country were founded on. So, do not scold our Taiwan President anymore. Because we, Taiwan People, must be responsible to our own decision, our own behavior and our vote. Through this way, this island could have its own future.
