Carcass Monument

This project is another technique experiment for the topic “Keep it all inside”, but with a different track. Rather than the school project, this one is more about the mutation of natural geometrical system. The installation was composed of the symmetrical whale’s carcass. Through using the butchery skill: splitting and reversing, I make the carcass mutant and be transformed into something similar species but with different qualities. The interior space inside whale’s body now become the exterior and all the skeletons and muscles become ornamental system of the building. Eventually whale’s body become a tomb for itself. All the pieces which once were parts of its body become the decorations of its own monument, and becoming a new species of form with a second life.
